This session explores the evolving role of the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) and the Certified Clinical Sleep Health (CCSH) professional in improving patient outcomes across the continuum of care.
Participants will examine how expanding beyond traditional diagnostic responsibilities to include patient education, care navigation, and follow-up support strengthens communication with providers and leadership while improving clinical outcomes.
Key performance indicators, including obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) identification, diagnostic test follow-through, progression to treatment, and long-term adherence will be reviewed to demonstrate the impact of structured patient engagement and continuity of care.
The session will also address common gaps in patient education and referral pathways, particularly for patients referred by non–sleep physicians. Emphasis will be placed on how patients are educated on the purpose of testing, what to expect after the study, and how follow-up and continuity of care influence adherence and long-term outcomes.
